What a deliciously unproductive day! How sweet it is to sleep in and not be obligated to do anything of significance for an entire day.
We did spend some time trying to navigate Final Fantasy XIV, which neither of us has yet determined is fun or not. It came close to feeling like work. Most MMO games do. They eventually become a series of mandatory chores that we pay a company for the privilege to complete. Yes, it is as sad as it sounds.
To the wife's mild dismay, today's feature was the pilot for Stargate: Atlantis. She really doesn't like any of the series that spawned off of the success of the original movie. I don't mind for the most part, being a fan of the sic-fi genre and all, but it is definitely one of those things where I agree to disagree and she remains content in knowing that I am horribly mistaken.
It wasn't a bad show, at least not as far as mindless audiovisual backdrops to exercise routines go. I'm sure my having purchased speakers to amplify my iPad while on the treadmill will not make her giddy if I do decide to watch every episode that is available for streaming.
Hey, I don't question her tastes! OK, granted, her tastes are legitimately impeccable and beyond scrutiny, and, well, that's about all I can say about that without feeling a bit puerile for enjoying such mindless drivel as the Stargate spinoffs.
It was a good walk. On that point we can both agree without too much discussion.
We did go out for lunch, and as passable as the food is at the place we call, "the peanut gallery," every time we go there we're reminded that it is our only local option, besides the barely passable sushi joint we frequent weekly, for tolerable food. It reminds us of how much we despise this place and how cursed we feel for having been stuck here as long as we have.
One of the many reasons I'm walking is to give myself the brazen courage to do what it takes to get us the heck out of here before our lives wither away to nothing. It's been time to leave here since the moment we arrived.
Day 47: 5.5 miles in 105 minutes, with CD.
Come on, GS13!!!
