Maybe it has something to so with my having stayed home from work today to look after my son, but I had enough energy in me to go at least twice as far as I usually do. Unfortunately I didn't really have the time. Still, a nearly painless 8 miles is no small feat considering that it's only day 56.
I feel great physically. My foot stopped hurting in no small part due to my new Asics shoes. They fit my feet better than any other shoe I've tried. Of course I got some serious arch support insoles. Without them my feel always feel like they're about to collapse.
A quick plug for the locals: the girls at the Finish Line store at the Alexandria mall were extremely patient and helpful. I'm a guy, at least that what my wife says, and shoe shopping is not exactly what I call fun. They made it as painless as possible and for that I am sincerely grateful.
I almost missed going to work today, but it was fun to hang out with my little guy even if he was somewhat sick. We watched the first Harry Potter. He's a bit young to get the concept, but he did enjoy it for the most part. He was surprisingly attentive and commented a lot on what he was seeing. That made it even more fun.
Hearing how my son perceives things is utterly fascinating. He notices details that are otherwise not readily apparent. Often he points out things I hadn't even noticed. He has an extremely keen eye and some serious attention to detail. He's not yet sure how everything fits together and a lot of things don't yet make sense to him, but I can tell already that he's more brilliant than I ever hoped to be.
It's all from his mom. She's more brilliant than she'll ever admit. Smarter than most people I know and most definitely wise beyond her years. After 10 years together I'd still rather talk to her all day than even play a single note on my guitar.
Well, I'd better get to bed 'cause I'm starting to feel a bit hungry.
Day 56: 8+ miles in 140 minutes.
Oh, and the scale told me that I'm back on track. Yes, we're on speaking terms again. 228, baby! Yeah!
Now for a GS13 slot....
